SPLEEN FACTORY SS18 Collection "Sad Girls" by Emma Burlet
With its first fashion collection SS18 - SAD GIRLS, SPLEEN FACTORY - the crea- tive team behind the eponymous melancholy themed magazine - chooses a new medium to deliver its romantic message.
Designed for all genders, the 6 looks collection tells another story of Phaedra, Eurydice and Antigone. Abandoned to themselves, the original sad girls here express contemporary solitude and leave their thrones to bring their drama to the city streets.
Draped in white denim and red velvet, awkwardly tall and oddly elegant, the silhouette draws a statuesque figure. Bodies are constricted in flesh-toned undergar- ments, wrapped in suffocating plastic, cheap fake leather or patchworks of dirty cotton. Details are baroque and subtle, and worn out feelings finally show through.
